Location

When we were looking for our new house in Vancouver in 2005, one of the requirements was that it had a large area to build a studio.  We found a 4 sub-level house in Port Moody, overlooking the Burrard Inlet. One of the levels is the studio and it’s machine room. The photo page will give you an overview of the construction, up to it’s current state.

Design

The Studio design was designed by myself, and includes several ideas borrowed from Chris Pelonis (giving credit where credit is due).  I’m proud to report that the end result has been great. Even without all the wall treatment in place the room has  a very wide sweetspot and no room-nodes.  Mixes have translated very well to other media and dub-stages.

Capabilities

The studio was designed as a private room for me to handle Sound Design, Music & Mixing work. It includes a mac based server room.

The room is baed around a 192 Track protools HD3 system, Digidesign D-Command, Mackie/Velodyne monitoring, a 100 inch  hi-def projection screen and a 32TB storage hub.

Construction

Construction was handled by Action Sound Construction.  Finishing work and acoustic building and installation was done by myself.
